  12. Issues related to enhancing Millets production Availability of certified seeds of less then ten Years of millet crops is limited with GSSC and other seed agencies in Gujarat. Poor genetic yield potential and lack of technological breakthrough in the varietal development. Small & fragmented land holding which leads to poor adoption of latest technologies mechanization. Lack of suitable processing & value addition opportunity Lack of Marketing and infrastructure. Lack of awareness and necessary skill for processing & value addition of millet crops. especially farm

  13. Strategies for overcoming effect of constrains Focus on low productivity areas including cultivation of millet crops in rain fed areas. District and Taluka wise crop planning and cluster approach for crop productivity enhancement. Capacity building of farmer Preparation of contingency plan up to Taluka level and educate the farmers for awareness - Creating awareness for critical stages of crops for better production. Area specific Promotion and extension of improved technologies Village wise preparation of Nutrient map for creating awareness among farmers Close & continuous monitoring to ensure timely reach of interventions to the targeted beneficiaries. Formation of FPO by various assistance/ exposure/ incentives under government scheme.
