2. We can use make, allow and let to talk about Obligation, Permission and Prohibition.

3. Obligation Make + object + infinitive without to Examples 1. My boss makes me work very hard. 2. My parents make me tidy my room on Saturdays.

4. Permission Let + object + infinitive without to Examples. He let me read letter. Ana is a terrible mother. She lets her children do whatever they want. Allow + object + to + infinitive Our science teacher allows us to ask questions.

5. Permission Subject + Be allowed + to + infinitive Examples: 1. Children aren t allowed to eat too many sweets. 2. We were allowed to watch TV until late.

6. Prohibition Not let + object + infinitive without to Examples. My boss doesn t let me leave until five o clock. My mother didn t let me wear make up when I was younger.
