Click to edit Master title style Welcome and expectations for Year 3 Welcome to Year 3 Morning session English (reading, writing, spelling, grammar) and Maths taught in year group cohorts (of approx. 20 children) Afternoon session foundation subjects taught in class cohorts Reading books and reading records must be in school every day and taken home each afternoon PE days are on a Thursday and Friday Our book studies for the year are: The Barnabus Project by The Fan Brothers, The Night Box by Louise Greig, The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo, Beware of Boys by Tony Blundell, Beowulf by Rob Lloyd Jones (Usborne), Shape poetry - no specific book link, Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, The Abominables by Eva Ibbotson
Click to edit Master title style Home learning expectations All homework should be completed in your child s yellow homework book, unless otherwise stated Homework activities should take no longer than 45 minutes and should be completed mostly independently Set on a Friday Due in on a Thursday Activities include: spelling words to practise, reading, SpellingFrame, TT Rockstars and sometimes a Maths or English task Reading records must be handed in every Thursday, alongside homework books
Click to edit Master title style Getting the most out of reading Your child s reading book must be in school each day and taken home each evening Reading records must be in school each day and taken home each evening Year group teachers will aim to read with your child on a 1:1 basis - at least once per half term All children have access to our school library Reading aloud to your child is incredibly beneficial!
