“All we have to do is what to do with the time that is given us”
-J.R.R. Tolkein
“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a
lot of time with them, and it will change your life forever”
- Amy Poehler
TIME
You have the power to stop
TIME
right now. What five things would
you do first?
Write about a
TIME
when you knew for sure, your work made an
impact in your libraries?
If you had
TIME
to spend with a person you most admired, what
are some of the things you would do together?
“Silence is not the absence of something, but the presence of everything”
– Gordon Hempton
“Silence is a source of great strength”
– Lao Tzu
“The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear”
- Rumi
SILENCE
How has
SILENCE
enriched and or hampered the way you
communicate with others?
Take a moment to first,
SILENTLY
 reflect on significant decisions
you have made in your life. This could be anything from your
career choice, relationship choices, choosing your closest friends,
and deciding where to live. Pick one area to write about in your
journal.
What is it about being
SILENT
, troubles you?
WRITING
“I write to give myself strength; I write to explore all the things I am
afraid of; I write to be the characters that I am not”
- Josh Whedon
“Handwriting is connected to the movements of the heart”
- Natalie Goldberg
“Writing is easy. All you have to do is cross out the wrong words”
- Mark Twain
You just received an award for your work in Libraries. Following
the ceremony, you opened the envelope to find a check for
$100,000 in your name. Without being told, there is an
expectation that you donate 25% to your libraries.
WRITE
down
what you would like your library to do with your donated funds?
WRITE
down some ways you would include a new colleague
from another country to your library as well as the surrounding
residential community.
WRITE
down a list of 10 words you use to articulate your
frustrations during COVID-19 “working from home”
experiences in 2020 - 2021
Concluding Thoughts:
Getting clear (strategic clarity) with your Time re: work, family, friends, and time with self is transformative
in many ways.
“As we connect with our interior world, with what’s really motivating our life choices and our behavior,
sometimes we have to accept that we do not “trust (our) own “aliveness” – Rev. Richard Rohr “Everything is
Sacred” (2021) ISBN: 978-0593238783
Remembering my Grand Mother’s words: “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.”
When I am not intentional about my practice of silence, reflection, and writing, it’s disruptive to my energy.
