And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and saying, come over into Macedonia, and help us (Acts 16:9) MEMORY VERSE prayed him,
INTRODUCTION GOD speaks to us in various ways, instructing us to do certain things for HIM. One of such ways is during, when we dream and receive a vision An example of when this happened in the Bible would be for the case of Samuel (1 Samuel 3:1-4) and Paul in our Bible passage
INTRO CONTD. God spoke to Paul in a dream (visions) asking him to go to Macedonia (mission) and preach the gospel to the unsaved.
So we can say that vision is the ability to see something your inner eyes or the special message you receive in your dream during your sleep. However, mission is the work of telling others about Jesus' love both in our abroad INTRO CON T. with country or
THREE POINTS TO CONSIDER: 1 HOME MISSION 2) FOREIGN MISSION 3) CALL TO MISSION WORK
1. HOME MISSION: Acts 16:1-5;Mark16:15;Acts1:8 Preaching the gospel to sinners around us is the major work Jesus commands all His friends to do. There are two major parts to the work. The first is called home mission - this is preaching the word of God to sinners around or within your country. In Acts 1:8, Jesus told his disciples to preach to the people at home: Jerusalem and Judea. For you, your own Jerusalem is your country, city or community where you live.
Now you may be asking yourself why do we preach? Simply it is because: a) Jesus commands it. 1. HOME b) It is the way Jesus wants to build his MISSION CON D. church (Acts 2:47) c) Without preaching, sinful children will perish in their sin and go to hell d) The time is short, and Jesus is coming very soon
1.HOME MISSION CONTD. Now that we know why we need to preach, how do we carry out this important assignment? There are different ways like: i. Through person-to-person evangelism ii. By sharing tracts and Christian Literature iii.Letter writing and use of social media iv.Sharing your testimonies v. Through your exemplary godly life
1. HOME MISSION CONTD. Are you involved in the preaching the word of God? Many children are fearful and ashamed, they do not want their friends to laugh at them. Where do you belong? Tell others about Jesus and the Lord will bless you abundantly
2. FOREIGN MISSION: 1 Corinthians 16:1-15; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8 The gospel, which talks about God's love for sinners is meant for the whole world, the gospel must reach everywhere human beings are. This is the reason Jesus specifically commanded his friends to preach the gospel to ever creature. Jesus emphasized this in Acts1:8 where he instructed the disciples to start from Jerusalem and go forth from there to other nations of the world (foreign mission).
In our passage today, Jesus appeared to Paul in a vision and asked him to go to Macedonia. There is that same call now for saved children to arise and enlist in mission work. There are many nations that are closed against the preaching of the gospel. Others are so far away that they are yet to hear this wonderful good news. Should we fold our hands and allow the sinners to perish? No, Jesus has called us to preach either at home or abroad, we must obey. 2. FOREIGN MISSION CONT D.
2. FOREIGN MISSION CONTD. How do you as a child get involved in foreign mission? Luckily, God has provided many ways like: i. Having consistent and sincere heartfelt prayer for success in mission work. ii. Contributing material gifts like money, Christian literature, clothes etc. To aid the mission work. iii. Providing support and encouragement to friends who are on the mission field with their parents
2. FOREIGN MISSION CONTD. iv. Assisting your parents who are on the mission work to share the gospel with sinful children. v. Develop early the desire to be a missionary in the future. You must follow the example of the Apostles, who obeyed Christ's command went preaching the word (Acts 8:4) everywhere
As a child, God can call you to the mission work. However, God expects that you should properly and get matured spiritually before going out to the mission work God can put a desire in your hearts to be a missionary grow up. As you grow up and pray about it, the vision will be getting clearer, and the Lord will direct your steps. 3. CALL TO MISSIONS WORK: Acts 16:1-12;13:1-3 grow up when your
3. CALL TO MISSIONS WORK CONTD However, we must know that it is only friends of Jesus that can be involved In both home and foreign missions. Are you born again? If not, today can be the day of salvation for you, tell God all your sins like stealing, lying, cheating, keeping malice and disobedience Ask Him to forgive you and to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus.
3. CALL TO MISSIONS WORK CONTD Turn away from evil, then ask Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour. Ask for a clean heart and the baptism of the power of the Holy Ghost. It is after this that you can be ready to work for Jesus
QUESTION 1. What do you understand by vision for mission? 2. Name the two types of mission we have? 3. Why do Christian preach the gospel? 4. How do we preach the gospel? 5. How can you take part in foreign mission? 6. What can a sinful child do before he can take part in mission work?
