Unlocking Africa's Potential through Research and Innovation
Landmark University seeks to lead Africa into a bright future by emphasizing applied and translational research towards meeting Sustainable Development Goals. Highlighting the importance of vision and productivity over mere certification, the narrative contrasts Nigeria's high professor-to-population ratio against the lack of tangible national products, showcasing the need for a shift in mindset towards innovation, self-sufficiency, and global competitiveness.

Applied and Translational Research to Meet SDG: Landmark Leading Africa into Limelight
Clear Vision in a Strange Terrain A boy was asked how on earth he hopes to make his dream of becoming a Doctor with an SSCE combination of Agric and Yoruba. His Reply: I need Agric to produce herbs. I need Yoruba to recite incantations. With the two I can heal the world.
Clear Vision in a Strange Terrain Compare that candidate with Nigeria that is reputed to have one of the highest Professor- to-Population Ratios in the whole world. Even higher than the US. Yet Nigeria is an importer nation.
Clear Vision in a Strange Terrain Compare again with the Okun Subethnic People of Kogi State: Reputed to have the highest number of Professors in Nigeria. Yet hardly has any product for the nation other than Professors.
Clear Vision in a Strange Terrain In the 70s and 80s Nigerians scorned graduate products from Indian and Chinese universities. But today, those countries dominate much of Nigerian household equipment. They had a clear vision of how to dominate the world, And pursued the vision despite derision at the early stage.
Clear Vision in a Strange Terrain For India and China, education was not, and still is not, for the luxury of Certification. It is for productivity. That is why Nigerians think up an idea, (We have the brain) but travel to China (We lack the Home Pride) to get the idea translated into a product (We lack the motivation) to be imported back into Nigeria (We love imported-ness)
Landmark Vision Landmark University is the boy with a clear vision of destiny and destination. We envision mobilizing Africa to feed itself We envision Africa exporting mental, technical and material products to bless the rest of the world.
Landmark Vision To achieve the Africa vision, Landmark must put in place: Vision-driven Researcher, who like Abraham, should close their physical eye, so that the inner eyes can see the ends of the earth, even from Mount Landmark. Collaborative efforts among the faculty and staff of the different colleges, departments, and units. Collaboration with the industry
Landmark Vision We should remember that Landmark is expected to become mature and self- sustaining at age 10. This means we must start, not despising the days of humble beginning. We must necessarily start converting waste to wealth. Thence, we strategize and implement, till we dominate the world.
Landmark Vision Within SDG We are thinking of what our cluster should study and produce to immediately bless Africa life, beginning from our Jerusalem, Omu-Aran. I intend next to list some potential products that will have immediate and wide field impact. And is potentially sustainable in consumption and researchability.
Landmark Vision Within SDG Let us think of Food products And medicinal products These two will always impact both local, national and international communities. Next is a quick list of: Potential products Waste to wealth products Medicinal food products
