Understanding WP Interactions in the ESCAPE Project
This discussion focuses on the interactions between various work packages within the ESCAPE project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program. The objectives include developing project outcomes that seamlessly bring technical work packages together and exploring potential demonstrations for review. The discussion also touches on longer-term technical coordination and integration of different tools and services. Further, the document outlines the collaborative efforts between different work packages to enhance the overall project outcomes and discusses the use of citizen science to drive demonstrations. The goal is to demonstrate the interworking between work packages using real science use cases to achieve meaningful outcomes for the science ESFRI community.

Discussion on WP Interactions 15thJuly 2020 Ian Bird, CNRS Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 ESCAPE - The European Science Cluster of Astronomy & Particle Physics ESFRI Research Infrastructures has received funding from the European Union s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Grant Agreement n 824064.
Objectives today First discussion on various interactions between the WPs How do we develop project outcomes that bring all the technical WPs together seamlessly? Also external interactions Think about potential demonstrations of that for the review not necessarily end-end yet Longer term technical coordination your opinions? Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 2 22/11/2024
Between WPs from proposal WP2: WP3: WP2 link ESCAPE sw repo and data archives WP4 include VO developments into repo, use of tools from repo with data in archives WP5 repo access integrated in science platform(s); include developments into repo T3.1: helpdesk T3.2: integrate community software into repo T3.5: implement repository 2.2: data lifecycle for various ESFRI s how to implement requirements on QoS, replication policy, accessibility, etc. 2.3: integrate HPC (PRACE, EuroHPC), commercial providers (HNSciCloud, etc.) 2.5: AAI for all communities with WP5 to ensure end-end service Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 3 22/11/2024
Between WPs cont. WP4: WP3: integrate VO registry in EOSC & portfolio of services WP2: federate astronomy data centres WP5: containerized services and tools WP5: Understand what science platform means to ESFRIs WP2: integrate ESAP into data lake WP3: access software & services, add tools; deploy and use sw & services WP4: integrate tools T5.4 integration of HPC and HTC (WP2) Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 22/11/2024
Interactions cont. WP6: Use citizen science to drive a demo? access to data, sw, service catalogues but not services or resources ? Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 22/11/2024
Way forward Is it useful to think about some demonstrators or challenges? Demonstrate the interworking between WPs using real science use cases Not necessarily end-end in the first instance What do we think is the real outcome of ESCAPE for the science ESFRI s? 2 timescales What would be useful/informative for the review (Oct/Nov)? What would be useful for ESCAPE and the science cases (we want to show something that is actually beneficial) Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 22/11/2024
Finally Would it be useful to have regular technical coordination meetings e.g. every 2 weeks, limited in time, follow up on WP-WP coordination supplement not replace or overlap E-EB meetings ? Funded by the European Union s Horizon 2020 - Grant N 824064 7 22/11/2024
