WELLBEING AND NUTRITION
KEY DEFINITIONS Diet: The food or drink that you consume on a regular basis. It comes from the Greek word diaita , meaning way of living . Wellbeing: The World Health Organisation (WHO) describes wellbeing as A positive physical, social and emotional state [in which] basic needs are met [and] individuals have a sense of purpose .
KEY DEFINITIONS Balanced diet: A diet that contains different foods in certain quantities and proportions. A balanced diet ensures that we eat the right amount of proteins, minerals and vitamins to nourish our body and mind.

EATING THE RAINBOW Design a dish that is colourful and packed with nutrients from across the food groups. Provide a breakdown of the benefits to both your mental and physical wellbeing and list the ingredients. EXAMPLE Benefits of the dish are: 1. It includes a real rainbow of vegetables 2. It s a great mix of protein from the salmon in the sushi, and carbs from the chickpeas Ingredients: Red cabbage shredded Cucumber sliced with skin on Peas Cashew nuts Sweet potatoes cut into cubes
