What is a topic sentence? A topic sentence has four main characteristics It is a sentence. It is a part of a paragraph, usually the first sentence. It has the topic of the paragraph It has the controlling idea of the paragraph. A topic sentence is the main idea of a paragraph.
SO. A topic sentences is a sentence that has a topic and a controlling idea and is the first sentence of a paragraph.

Relative clause: a clause that is introduced by a relative word A subordinate clause refers to the noun of the main clause A clausal modifier identifying it or adding extra information Attributive clause Harry was clever, diligent and willing to help others, for which he was often praised by the teacher. The Prime Minister, who has been in office for three terms, is running for another term in the forthcoming election.
1.Restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses A restrictive Relative clause: gives essential information about the meaning of the antecedent forms an integral part of the noun phrase. is closely attached to the head. is not separated from the head by a break in intonation, or by a comma in writing.

Definition Transitional words and phrases provide the glue that holds ideas together in writing. They provide coherence by helping the reader to understand the relationship between ideas, and they act as signposts that help the reader follow the movement of the discussion. Transitional expressions, thus, can be used between sentences, between paragraphs, or between entire sections of a work. The two kinds of transitions are those of logic and those of thought. Each of these kinds are discussed.
Hints For Using Transition Be careful not to use too many strong transitions. Transitions become stronger when they are the first word in a sentence, milder when they are moved a few words into the sentence. Keep the list handy while you write, until the words come automatically.
