Capillaries have very thick walls Arteries carry blood from the heart Capillaries connect arteries and veins Veins carry blood towards the heart Veins have no valves Arteries carry de- oxygenated blood Arteries carry oxygenated blood Capillaries have valves to prevent the backflow of blood Veins have a large space inside

  3. What does the heart do? The heart is a muscle that pumps blood around the body It pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs around the body It pumps deoxygenated blood from the body back to the lungs Now look at the heart animation!

  4. Looking at the heart.. The right side of my heart pumps blood to my lungs The left side of my heart pumps blood to the rest of my body The heart contains four valves to stop the backflow of blood
