  3. Brief History and Purpose February 27, 2018 Governing Board passes resolution ending Meet & Confer / Residential Faculty Policies. January 22, 2019 Governing Board repeals resolution on Meet & Confer / Residential Faculty Policies and institutes Faculty Administration Collaboration Team (FACT). January 30, 2019 FACT begins to meet on a weekly basis. February 23, 2021 Governing Board votes 5-2 to adopt the Faculty Agreement.

  4. Why have the Faculty Agreement? The Faculty Agreement (FA) creates a framework for collaboration between the residential faculty, the adjunct faculty, and the administration that is agreed upon by these parties. The FA addresses policy, procedure, and practice (PPP) affecting teaching, learning, and faculty working conditions. Clearly delineated PPP brings clarity, ensures greater consistency, and instills confidence in our system. Honoring the FA is an important aspect of honoring our culture of collaboration.

  5. Users Guide / Structure The Faculty Agreement contains many of the key aspects of the RFP and Adjunct Faculty Handbook. The table of contents is hyperlinked and is your best starting point. A crosswalk from the RFP to the FA is in development. The FACT intends to make the FA user friendly. We are always open to feedback about how to improve the agreement. We will be seeking involvement from stakeholders on developing practices. Stay tuned!

  10. 4th Big Thing to Know - Discipline and Administrative Evaluation Faculty Discipline (Article 21) Absent from policy; useful for all parties to define a process Progressive Problem Solving Approach (Pre discipline) Counseling, verbal warning, 1-2 written warnings Peer review required when related to professional competence Faculty representative may be present for written warning(s) Exceptions exist for issues involving discrimination, etc.

  11. 4th Big Thing to Know - Discipline and Administrative Evaluation Corrective Actions: Disciplinary Sanctions: Actions on salary, including one- time salary reductions Demotion or removal from a faculty leadership position Suspension (with or without pay) Dismissal Modified teaching assignments and/or professional responsibilities Class monitoring Mandatory counseling Public censure Financial restitution Temporary withholding of compensation increases

  13. 4th Big Thing to Know - Discipline and Administrative Evaluation Administrative Evaluation (Article 20.6) The process remains the same, except After receiving the request for an AE, the College President asks the CHRO to assemble an Administrative Evaluation Team from the District Administrative Evaluation membership roster.

Used to revise a Faculty Agreement Article A new matter that is expected for less than one academic year Variance to the Faculty Agreement (Article 6.1.1.) A Rapid Solution when you want to Pilot or a Proof of Concept Timeframe: Less than four semesters May be extended up to eight semesters Requires an Application and a Variance Evaluation (Both to be developed)

Department/Division Charters (Article 6.3) Document developed by each College s Residential Faculty, in consultation with its Adjunct Faculty, for each of the College s departments and/or divisions.
