Purpose of Presentation: To understand the concept of Federal Work- Study versus Leopard Work Program The process of finding a job on- campus/remotely Getting authorized to work/acceptable documents To inform you of your responsibilities as a work-study employee and job expectations
Federal Work - Study: Designed to give students access to employment that will help them meet additional educational and living expenses and provide additional income. Must file FAFSA and demonstrate financial need according to federal guidelines Must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree program and maintain satisfactory academic progress Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
Leopard Work Program: Solely funded by WIT and individual departments Financial need is NOT a factor Must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree program and either a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen Can have FWS job and Leopard Work job
E-Award: If you have been awarded Federal Work-Study, it will appear on your e-award located on LeopardWeb Students MUST accept FWS if you plan on working on-campus/remotely To reject the offer, please contact your Financial Aid Counselor.
Finding a Job: FWS begins on the first day of classes each semester and ends on June 30th Maximum hours for all jobs is 16 hours per week Search Student Employment on wit.edu
Getting Authorized to Work: You must complete three forms before you can use your FWS award: Student Employment Contract, I-9 Form and W-4 Form. All are available to be completed online. NEW STUDENTS must submit ORIGINAL documentation of both identity and employment eligibility i.e. Driver's license, WIT ID, SS card, birth certificate. Two forms of ID is required. A US passport will satisfy both requirements. Passports and SS card must be signed.

Important: FWS maximum earnings for the year is $2,000 Maximum 16 hours a week be sure you have enough time for studying Can not work during class time. FWS funds do not carry over to the next academic year . If you do not work enough hours, you will forfeit part of your award.
Getting Paid: Complete and sign your timesheet after each work week Employer will submit your timesheet to the Payroll Office Pay Stub will indicate how much of your award balance remains You and your supervisor should monitor the award balance. Direct Deposit into your checking account is not required but highly encouraged.
Job Expectations: Report to work promptly, remotely or in- person Notify your supervisor if you will be late or unable to work Submit a timesheet to your supervisor each week with hours that you ve worked Perform your job responsibilities to your best of your ability Take your job seriously. Work experience is valuable Dress appropriately, and follow safety policies if working on-campus
