Why the need for Spiritual Parenting What is a Spiritual Parent? What is involved in Spiritual Parenting?
What is a Spiritual Parent? A mature Christian who comes alongside a new believer or a believer who is younger in faith, to help him/her grow to become a disciple of Christ.
Matt. 28:19 Go and make disciples of all nations .
Spiritual parenting is crucial in the formative years of a new believer s life.
my true child in the faith (1 Tim. 1:2) my beloved child (2 Tim. 1:2)
A Spiritual Parent provides spiritual nourishment for the one he disciples until the disciple is able to feed himself on the word of God.
Truth does not change life but truth applied changes life. (Ps Edmund Chan)
A Spiritual Parent protects and guards the one he disciples from potential threats to his spiritual life.
A Spiritual Parent encourages the one he disciples to use the spiritual gift he has been given by God.
A Spiritual Parent also helps the one he disciples to discover his calling.
A Spiritual Parent is a role model to the one he disciples.
You (Timothy) have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. (2 Tim. 3:10-11)
