Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name . . .
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God s children.

One day at Sunday School, a woman seeing Alice for the first time blurted, Who s that monster? A little girl in Alice s class answered, That s just Alice. And then she took Alice s hand and led her off to class. Deformed by sin, ugly in guilt before the beautiful, righteous God, the Father chose us in Christ to be adopted as his children. And now we belong, we have hope, and identity and a future.
And by him we cry, Abba, Father. Abba a loving closeness that transforms us, and a holy desire to live in obedience to the will of God.

Mark 14:3536 35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 Abba, Father, he said, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.
HC 120 - Why did Christ command us to call God our Father ? A. To awaken in us at the very beginning of our prayer what should be basic to our prayer a childlike reverence and trust that through Christ God has become our Father . . .
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
