COMMON INGREDIENTS Caffeine energy drinks can contain 200 mg of caffeine in one serving Sugar contains as much (and sometimes more) sugar as a soft drink Other ingredients are advertised as elements that benefit the user, however there are studies that show that they can actually have negative effects when mixed with caffeine
CAFFEINE Viewed as a chemical that can stunt growth Recent studies have shown that caffeine does NOT stunt growth However, caffeine has other serious effects Can cause insomnia, rapid heartbeats, dehydration, dizziness, nausea, and headaches Too much caffeine can lead to more serious problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart problems
CAFFEINE COMPARISON DID YOU KNOW THAT ALL OF THESE DRINKS CONTAIN CAFFEINE?

TOO MUCH MONSTER? Drinking too much Monster can cause dependence Monster has large amounts of sugar that gives you energy in the short run Once the sugar is used by your body, you experience a rapid drop in energy The extra sugar also adds calories to diets Click here for a list of Monster's side effects
THE DANGERS 12% of caffeine abuse cases required hospital treatment. 18 year old athlete, Ross Cooney, died while playing basketball after consuming 4 cans of Red Bull. A 31 year old woman drank 2 cans and died when her heart stopped as she was dancing. Drew James, a 19 year old from Florida, collapsed on his way home while drinking a can of Monster Nitrous.
CONCLUSION: Although energy drinks may taste good and seem helpful in the short-run, they are not healthy beverages and have many serious side effects that may be dangerous in the future!
