Overview of Tobacco data-contd No specialized survey done on tobacco- a short module in DHS 2013 The IHS introduced four questions on smoking namely: Is [NAME] currently smoke? For how long has [NAME] been smoking Does [NAME] smoke every day? How many cigarettes does [NAME] smoke per day? About IHS IHS is the Integrated Household Survey conducted of a 12-month period This is the third round ( First and second in 2003 and 2010 respectively) Previous rounds supported mainly by UNDP and Government The present round supported by WB, UNDP, WFP, UNICEF, UNFP, Gov t Three stage sampling was done to district level Sample size of 13360 hhs (668 Eas) Orientation Workshop on 'Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS)', Ankara - Turkey, 3-4 May 2016 9/12/2024 5
Timing of the request/interest The interest came at a time when IHS was being conducted Though the support was never enough to conduct its own survey We seized the opportunity to collect the data using the 4th quarter sample Orientation Workshop on 'Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS)', Ankara - Turkey, 3-4 May 2016 9/12/2024 6
Sample Size The last quarter of the IHS had about 120 Eas Each of the 20 hhs per EA was covered- meaning a total 2400 hhs Questions asked from/about hh members aged 10 years and above Total respondent of 11440 Has the advantage of disaggregation to a third level Orientation Workshop on 'Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS)', Ankara - Turkey, 3-4 May 2016 9/12/2024 7
Questionnaire customization The questionnaire was reviewed internally with GBoS and comments incorporated It was shared also with partners from the Health Ministry Adjustments were made to the questionnaire based on the local situation. One key adjustment was the age the lower age limit-10 years. Data collection and entry The data collection for the IHS (and the tobacco module) officially ended on the 15th of April. Data entry for Tobacco is complete and all data collated. Currently the data is being checked for consistency and cleaning (which is so far very minor) is in progress. Data analysis and report writing Data analysis is expected to begin some time next week This is likely to be completed within a week The report writing will immediately follow the analysis and is expected to take not longer than a week.
