The Power of Forgiveness in Christian Life
Forgiveness holds immense importance in the Christian faith, impacting our relationship with God, our well-being, and even the effectiveness of our prayers. The act of forgiving reflects the love we have for both God and others, as emphasized in biblical teachings. Moreover, harboring unforgiveness can lead to physical and emotional distress, and open doors for spiritual attacks. Through forgiveness, we align ourselves with God's grace and pave the way for His merciful forgiveness towards us.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FORGIVE? 1. Forgiveness is so vital to our Christian walk 2. Nature of true forgiveness
It affects our relationship and fellowship with God when we chose not to forgive
I John 4:20-21 If someone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
Unforgiveness can affect our body and soul
Psalm 32: 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. Proverbs 12: 5 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.
Forgiveness is the key to answered prayers.
Mark 11: 25-26 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. "But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
When we do not forgive we open the door for the attack of the enemy
2 Corinthians 2: 10-11 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven if there was anything to forgive I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
The measure we use to forgive is what God will use to forgive us
Matthew 6: 14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Micah 7: 18 Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.
OUR MOTIVATION TO FORGIVE MUST COME FROM OUR RESPONSE TO THE LOVE AND MERCY OF GOD
Luke 6: 36- 37 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Colossians 3: 13 Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
BY EXTENDING FORGIVENESS TO OTHERS, YOU HELP OTHERS SEE THE OVERFLOW OF GOD S LOVE AND MERCY
Matthew 18:33-34 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
Matthew 18: 35 So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.
Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
James 2: 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
