The Impact of Global Warming: A Story of Environmental Degradation and Human Tragedy
Tony from Termonboo drinks 3 bottles of River Ride water daily to stay healthy. River Ride, the plastic bottle producer, sources petroleum from Richex Energy, which extracts oil, natural gas, and coal in 43 countries. Richex Energy is among the companies contributing to global warming emissions. The reliance on burning oil at power plants leads to increased carbon dioxide emissions, causing a rise in global temperatures. This, in turn, results in adverse weather conditions, droughts, food shortages, and rural-urban migration, ultimately leading to civil unrest and humanitarian crises like the one in Syria.

Tony from Termonboo drinks 3 bottles of River Ride water a day to stay healthy
Plastic bottle producer River Ride gets their petroleum from Richex Energy
Richex Energy-an investor owned multinational company extracts oil, natural gas and coal in 43 countries
Richex are one of the 90 companies responsible for 2/3 of man-made global warming emissions-31 of them state owned
The power plant burns more oil instead of renewable energy & releases more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
The carbon dioxide forms a blanket in the atmosphere which traps the sun s rays
The planet heats up and ocean temperatures rise which increases adverse weather conditions leading to drought in many countries
Syria experiences a drought as a result. The 2006-2009 drought effects the Fertile Crescent leading to agricultural collapse
There are water and food shortages particularly in the rural areas
People from rural areas move to urban centres causing further over- crowding
The over-crowding and unrest causes an uprising leading to a civil war
As of Jan 2017, 13.5 million Syrians require humanitarian assistance, of which more than 6 million are internally displaced within Syria, and over 4.8 million are refugees outside of Syria.
