  2. Compassion is Compassion is Understanding, and caring about others, when they are hurt, or troubled, regardless of whether or not you know the person, and even if it s only lending a listening ear, or responding with a kind word.

  3. COMPASSION: COMPASSION: SHOWING LOVE SHOWING OTHERS THAT YOU CARE SHOWING EMPATHY

  4. SHOWING LOVE: SHOWING LOVE: Accepting others regardless of their differences. It is as much about RESPECT, as it is about showing LOVE. Making others feel welcomed, is showing love. Choosing a kind word it could change someone s experience totally. Being patient with others who may not be as able as yourself. Standing up for those who can t do so for themselves. Showing love is compassion in action

  5. SHOWING THAT YOU CARE: SHOWING THAT YOU CARE: Caring, is placing ourselves in the situation of others, looking beyond whatever, or however we may feel our pain. It s daring to see past our own hurt, to feeling that of others, and acting, to ease their pain. Caring is compassion in action

  6. SHOWING EMPATHY: SHOWING EMPATHY: Simply put, it s: Seeing with the eyes of another Listening with the ears of another Feeling with the heart of another Walking a mile in another person s shoes, and attempting to understand how they feel, is compassion in action...

  7. DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? That helping others triggers brain activity associated with pleasure and reward? That friendly gestures produce oxytocin, causing a chemical reaction that motivates us to be more compassionate? That showing compassion has tremendous benefits for both physical and mental health? That a compassionate approach to life can be a buffer against stress?

  8. PARENTS CAN HELP THEIR CHILDREN DEVELOP PARENTS CAN HELP THEIR CHILDREN DEVELOP COMPASSION BY: COMPASSION BY: Teaching them to be accepting, and understanding of others. Teaching them to be forgiving of the mistakes of others. Creating opportunities for emotional reflection or maybe during mealtime. Teach them to help others, of the importance of giving back. Talk to them about Acceptance and Respect accepting, and respecting others, even though different from themselves. Teach them to be kind to others to always choose Kind.

  9. DISCUSSION STARTERS PARENTS CAN USE: DISCUSSION STARTERS PARENTS CAN USE: How do you feel when you re happy, or sad? How do you know when someone else is feeling happy or sad? How can you show that you care? How does it make you feel when you show kindness to others? How do you show kindness to animals? What are some of the things we can do when we see that someone is hurting?
