TCSD Teaching and Learning Department Workshop Overview
The TCSD Teaching and Learning Department focuses on establishing a vision of high-quality teaching and learning through research-based decision-making. Their goal is to continuously improve curriculum and instructional practices to enhance teacher practice and student learning. The department supports students, teachers, and principals through content teams, Canvas Learning Management System, Atlas Curriculum Mapping, and instructional coach and principal support. Their vision is to provide successful literacy and math learning experiences for all students, grounded in cohesion, alignment, and sound instruction.

If we work as a K-12 team to establish and hold a vision of high-quality teaching and learning throughout, and If we use clear research and best practice to ground our decision-making around high-quality instruction, curricula, and professional development; TCSD Teaching and Learning Department Then, we will have a cohesive system in which we continuously review and improve our curriculum and instructional practices, which will result in improved teacher practice and student learning. Our vision: successful literacy and math learning experiences for ALL students, grounded in continuous improvement: Cohesion and alignment and Sound instruction, aligned with our instructional framework. ELA and Math Content Teams Building teacher leadership capacity.
Our ongoing focus is on K-12 alignment. Our goal is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of our instructional core: student learning, strong instruction, and aligned content. Our collaborative work will be an adaptive process responding to the learning , inquiry, and shifts in our practice over time. ELA and Math Content Teams Content teams will use two-way communication with the schools and with work teams to learn and make decisions for our district. Work teams are an important part of the alignment work; they are a focused group of educators who will convene to respond to and inform content teams direction.
Outcomes Learn and apply the instructional shifts required by WY state standards into teacher practice (aligned to our district s instructional framework). Implement a process for creating units and common assessments aligned to the WY standards. Canvas for Students and Parents Allows teachers to organize and enhance course content digitally in order to meet the needs of all students. Extends the learning environment beyond the traditional classroom and school day. Canvas for Teachers Communication and collaboration platform for teachers. Supports TCSD Professional Development. Canvas LMS Math Content Team - Canvas course
Why Altas? Atlas is an online mapping tool that enhances our curriculum development and revision process, quality instruction, and teacher collaboration. Atlas Curriculum Mapping Key features: Atlas is unit based, will assist with K-12 vertical AND horizontal alignment. Useful as a reflection tool. Able to pinpoint what standards are taught and when; Atlas will help us adjust and better align. Strong assessment analytics One district template. Atlas Curriculum Mapping
Focus: Strengthening their instructional leadership and practice. High-Priority Leadership Standards, and Principal Cycles of Inquiry. Principal Support Use the TCSD Instructional Framework to support Teacher and Principal Cycles of Inquiry through principal professional development and functioning as a collaborative PLC. Build and maintain system coherence in support of our Continuous Improvement. Coordination and cohesion with instructional coaches.
Focus: Strengthening their instructional leadership and practice. Instructional Coach framework, and Instructional Coach cycles of inquiry. Instructional Coach Support Use the TCSD Instructional Framework to support Teacher and Coach Cycles of Inquiry through professional development and functioning as a collaborative PLC. Build and maintain system coherence in support of our Continuous Improvement. Coordination and cohesion with principals.
AdvancED Standards for Quality Systems The five AdvancED Standards for Quality are comprehensive statements of quality practices and conditions that research and best practice indicate are necessary for schools to achieve quality student performance results and organizational effectiveness. TCSD Accreditation Standard 3 - Teaching and Assessing for Learning The school s curriculum, instructional design and assessment practices guide and ensure teacher effectiveness and student learning across all grades and courses.
