Strengthening LARI Early Warning System for Agricultural Sustainability in Beqaa Valley
The project focuses on enhancing the LARI Early Warning System to aid farmers in managing climate variability impacts on agriculture in the Beqaa Valley. It includes infrastructure development, water management, cost estimation, and SWOT analysis to address challenges and opportunities. The system aims to provide agro-meteorological information and advice to farmers, with a validation workshop held in Beirut. Various aspects such as ICT, collaboration, user-friendliness, and potential threats are considered for system improvement and sustainability.

Framework for LARI EWS Objective To strengthen LARI Early Warning System so as to support farmers in improving management of the adverse impacts of climate variability on their agricultural activities through agro- meteorological information and advice in the Beqaa Valley LARI Early Warning System Validation Workshop 28 June 2016 Beirut ClimaSouth Final workshop 6 February 2017 Beirut, Lebanon LARI EWS Concept and infrastructure. LARI EWS approach The project proposal rather than deal with all aspects of LARI EWS is centered on two components, considered to be not only a priority but a condition for the sustainability of the system: 1. EWS infrastructure : Agrometeorology observations & data management, weather forecasting, communication & information 1. Drought and Water Management : data assessment, modelling, test, calibration, advising LARI Early Warning System Validation Workshop 28 June 2016 Beirut ClimaSouth Final workshop 6 February 2017 Beirut, Lebanon LARI EWS Concept and infrastructure.
