introduction

Students who excel in character will be able to face all problems in
their lives. Character education also teaches someone to become a
lifelong learner (Adi & Wahyudi, 2020)
The world of Indonesian education is only capable of producing
human graduates with an adequate intellectual level.
The purpose of national education according to the National
Education Law is to develop the potential of students to become
human beings who believe and fear God Almighty, have noble
character, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent,
and become democratic and responsible citizens.
introduction

Many of the school graduates have high grades, are intelligent, and
are able to solve subject problems very quickly, but unfortunately not
a few of them do not have intelligent behavior and lack good
manners.
This plan is considered unsuccessful in delivering generations of the
nation into dignified individuals
The news that we see lately both in newspaper and electronic media
is a form of perversion of character education

introduction

Character learning is divided into 4 dimensions, namely: kbm in the
classroom, daily activities in the form of cultural development of
formal education units and co-curricular and / or extracurricular
activities, as well as daily activities at home and community
Through the current Merdeka Belajar launched by the government,
the content of Pancasila Education continues to be spread, one of
which is through the Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students
Project
through the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) Project,
which is interdisciplinary learning in observing and thinking of
solutions to problems in the surrounding environment to strengthen
various competencies in the Pancasila Student Profile.

introduction

P5 has key principles, namely: Holistic, Contextual, Learner-centred
and exploratory
One of the applications of P5 is through extracurricular activities
On this occasion, I will discuss character education through
extracurricular activities of youth red cross (PMR) which have actually
been internalized into PMR members

introduction

Youth red cross (PMR) has basic principles called the International
Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including: humanity, equality,
neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity, universality.
Youth red cross (PMR) also has the tri bhakti of PMR, namely:
improving clean and healthy living skills, working and serving in the
community, strengthening national and international friendships
Youth red cross (PMR) also has 8 character values that must be
possessed by every member, including: clean, healthy, leadership,
caring, creative, cooperation, friendly and cheerful.

Principles, Tri Bhakti, 8 Values and P5
methods

The method used in writing this qualitative research with a
phenomenological approach

SMA/SMK/MA schools, 76 PMR members, 18 facilitators and 18 PMR
Coaches from Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) in Malang City
Data collection techniques by means of observation, in-depth
interviews and documentation
Result and discussion

well as the value of leadership, friendly, cheerful character
The dimension of working together is in accordance with the tri

of independence and the value of creative character
The dimension of critical reasoning is in accordance with the tri bhakti
PMR, namely working and serving in the community as well as the
value of leadership character, care
creative dimension in accordance with the tri bhakti PMR filial piety
and work in the community as well as the value of creative, cheerful
character

analysis

Indeed, not all basic principles of the red cross and red crescent, tri
bhakti PMR and 8 character values are included in the 6 dimensions
of the Pancasila student profile strengthening project, but it has
proven that these principles are in line with the dimensions desired
by P5
The principles in PMR extracurricular activities have been internalized
into each member and of course are in line with the foundation of our
country Pancasila
I only discuss from 1 extracurricular activity, certainly not perfect for
that criticism and constructive advice that the author expects

Students' character development is crucial in facing life challenges. The Indonesian education system aims to nurture individuals with not just academic excellence but also moral values. However, recent observations show a gap in shaping students' behaviors. Initiatives like the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project focus on instilling character values through extracurricular activities like the Youth Red Cross. By internalizing these values, students become well-rounded individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
