IEEE VEHICULAR TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY (VTS) ITS STANDARDS COMMITTEE ITU-T CITS MEETING 09-09-2020 T. M. KURIHARA, IEEE VTS VT/ITS STANDARDS COMMITTEE T.KURIHARA@IEEE.ORG
VEHICULAR TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY (VTS) VTS Standards Committee (proposed) Technical Activity Standards Committee (TA SC) responsible to the newly created position of Vice-President for Standards, responsibility to review the vehicular technology state-of-art and state-of-practice; and recommend standards initiatives to the VTS Vice-President of Standards When a specific standards project results from the initiatives, the TA SC coordinates with the approved VTS SA Standards Committee (SA SC) or, if necessary, propose the creation of a SA SC for the technical area of interest, negotiate necessary SA approvals for policies and procedures, and obtain IEEE Standards Board approval for the respective standards committee and projects
STANDARDS ASSOCIATION STANDARDS COMMITTEES (SA SC) Rail Transportation Standards Committee (RTSC) reorganized into four standards committees: Overhead Contact Systems Standards Committee Traction Power Systems Standards Committee CBTC/Signal Standards Committee Railcar Transit Vehicle Standards Committee VT/ITS Standards Committee includes IEEE 1609 WAVE Working Group VT/Automated Vehicle Standards Committee (see March 2020 report) VT/High-Speed Train and Maglev Standards Committee (new)
VT/HSTM STANDARDS COMMITTEE - APPROVED Scope: Vehicular Technology/High Speed Train and Maglev Standards Committee (VT/HSTM SC) covers wheel-rail type high-speed trains that operate at speed equal to or greater than 200 km/h and magnetic levitated system. It mainly develops standards related to: HSTM s electrical systems, safety, reliability and operational maintenance. These standards cover the HSTM s train-borne electrical equipment, signaling and control system, fixed installation on ground Multiple projects identified, pending Standards Association Policy and Procedures approval, to be followed by Project Authorization Requests (PARs)

THANK YOU If you can t fly then run, if you can t run then walk, if you can t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward. Martin Luther King, Jr Note: See March 2020 Report, Doc20, for list of VT/ITS projects and list of IEEE 1609 standards
