Slow Control Servers and Network Configuration for SVD Management
The documentation discusses the setup and requirements for slow control servers, network configuration, FADC server status, ENV server status, and general SC server status for SVD management. It outlines the need for backup servers, minimum server requirements, server specifications, procurement details, and installation plans. The content also touches upon responsibilities, funding agreements, hardware specifications, and server utilization for various systems within the SVD environment.

SVD SC/RC Computing HW Minimum 4 servers required Backup for each should be foreseen 8 servers 1x for FADC system with some dedicated HW Responsibility & funding: HEPHY agreed 1x for other, non HW dependent IOC s and systems PS, PDP, CA GW, alarm system, etc. Responsibility & funding: to be discussed by SVD-IB 1x for environmental monitoring NTC, HUM, RAD, FOS, INTLK Responsibility & funding: INFN Trieste agreed 1x archiver Common HW with PXD (each group purchases 1 machine) Responsibility & funding: to be discussed by SVD-IB 20 June 2017 C. Irmler 3
FADC Server Status 1 machine already purchased by HEPHY Intel-Xeon E5-1650 v3, 3.5GHz, 6 cores 128 GB DDR4-2133 RAM (ECC) 4 x 6TB SATA HD for data (RAID 5) 2 x 480 GB SSD for OS ASUS X99-E WS mainboard SuperMicro CSE-842XTQ-R606B chassis (4U) Will be used for BEAST phase 2 HEPHY will also take care about 10 GBit network components of FADC spydaq network and backup server 2ndserver will be purchased as soon as Hao is sure that performance is sufficient for SVD-QM of the full SVD 20 June 2017 C. Irmler 4
ENV Server Status Trieste group agreed to provide these servers Specification Supermicro SuperServer 5019S-WR (1U) Intel Xeon E3-1225v6, 4 cores, 3.7GHz, 8MB cache 32GB DDR4 2400 RAM ECC PCIe AOC-SG-I4 Quad Port 1Gb/s RJ45 3x 2TB disks, 2x RAID1 + 1x spare, Detailed specification: www.supermicro.com Procurement and installation Costs: about 2.5 kEUR Lorenzo wants to order the servers asap (next 2 weeks), but needs some help from someone at KEK (Hara-san?) After delivery: August / September? 20 June 2017 C. Irmler 5
General SC Server Status Used for non HW dependent IOC s and systems No high computing power and / or large amount of memory equired Can we use the same type of server as for ENV system? Need to check CPU requirements Detailed specs to be defined Estimated costs: 5-10 kEUR (2 servers) Installation Ideally the server should be installed before phase 2 If this is not possible, the IOCs can temporarily run on FADC server Should buy all servers in Japan 20 June 2017 C. Irmler 6
Archiver Common VXD system share HW with PXD group Main specs: Xeon E5 (4thgeneration, 2GHz, 10 cores) 128 GB RAM 4x 6TB HD for data (RAID 5), 2x 256 GB SSD for OS (RAID 1) min. 4 1GBit ports, Remote management, redundant PS, etc. Costs estimate: up to 10 kEUR So far M. Ritzert got 2 offers DELL PowerEdge R530 2S 2U Rack: 988,841 JPY / ~8 kEUR Price gathered from configurator of Dell Japan web page Components well known by M.
