  1. PUBLISHING MINISTRY

  2. KEY TEXT: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people Revelation 14:6

  3. INTRODUCTION THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST IS THE REMNANT CHURCH OF THE END-TIME The book of Revelation teaches that God's end-time remnant church keeps "the commandments of God" and has "the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Rev 12:17). In a later chapter of that book, we are told that "the testimony of Jesus prophecy" (Rev. 19:10). is the spirit of

  4. OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT MENTIONED ABOUT TESTIMONY OF CHRIST, GOD AND LORD In the Old Testament prophet Isaiah uses the expression "the law and the testimony" (Isa 8:19-20) to refer to the messages given by God's true prophets in earlier times; In the New Testament, the apostle Paul also employs such language, using the phrases "testimony of Christ," "testimony of God," and "testimony of our Lord" (1 Cor 1:6; 2:1; 2 Tim 1:8).

  5. WHAT IS THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS/SPIRIT OF PROPHECY The testimony of Jesus, that is, the everlasting gospel given through God's true prophets. Thus, our Fundamental Beliefs #17 states in part: "One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White.

  6. When will the Gospel becomes lasting? When it is printed.

  10. GODS PURPOSE ON PUBLISHING WORK He has made them His representatives and has called them to be ambassadors for Him in the last work of salvation. MATEO 24:14 14Ug kining Maayong Balita mahitungod sa gingharian igawali ngadto sa tibuok nga kalibutan ingon nga pagpamatuod ngadto sa tanang kanasuran; ug unya moabut na ang katapusan.

  11. GODS PURPOSE ON PUBLISHING WORK The greatest wealth of truth ever entrusted to mortals, the most solemn and fearful warnings ever sent by God to man, have been committed to them to be given to the world; and in the accomplishment of this work our publishing houses are among agencies. PM 41.5 the most effective

  12. GODS PURPOSE ON PUBLISHING WORK Our publishing work was established by the direction of God and under His special supervision. It was designed to accomplish a specific purpose. Seventh-day Adventists have been chosen by God as a peculiar people, separate from the world.

  13. SALIENT FEATURES OF PRINTED MATERIALS The Press a Powerful Means of Spreading Light The press is a powerful means to move the minds and hearts of the people. If men, under the influence of the spirit of the world and of Satan, are earnest to circulate books, tracts, and papers of a corrupting nature, you should be more earnest to get reading matter of an elevating and saving character before the people. PM 44.2

  14. SALIENT FEATURES OF PRINTED MATERIALS Silent Messenger Their Only Preacher I was shown that the truth once published now, will stand, for it is the truth for the last days; it will live, and less need be said upon it in future. Early writings. PM 47.4

  15. HOW TO DO THIS PUBLISHING/CANVASSING WORK? When you are riding on the cars, visiting, conversing with your neighbors wherever you are, let your light shine forth. Hand out the papers and tracts to those with whom you associate, and speak a word in season, praying that the Holy Ghost will make the seed productive in some hearts. This work will be blessed of God.. PM 57.4 W 231, 232.

  16. HOW TO DO THIS PUBLISHING/CANVASSING WORK? Our periodicals are to be distributed by men and women of all stations and walks in life. Young and old are to act a part. These publications are to show that the end of all things is at hand. PM 57.2 Now, as never before, the great and wonderful work of this message is to be carried on.

  17. Books That Reveal Light on Satan's Apostasy Instruction has been given me that the important books containing the light that God has given regarding Satan's apostasy in heavenshould be given a wide circulation just now; for through them the truth will reach many minds.

  18. THE CALLING OF LOCAL CHURCH INVOLVEMENT IN THE PUBLISHING MINISTRY As church members unite with literature evangelists in spreading the good news, the task will be accomplished. PM 5.2 In your church and neighborhood missionary work, let us be diligent in the distribution of literature. Let us put literature into every hand that will receive it (Counsels on Stewardship,189-190). The church must give her attention to the canvassing work. This is one way in which she is to shine to the world. Then will she go forth fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners (Manuscript 113, 1901).

  19. THE CALLING OF LOCAL CHURCH INVOLVEMENT IN THE PUBLISHING MINISTRY Elder Neal C. Wilson, GC Pres. Keynote Address 1985 GC Session: My appeal is that the whole church every member, every young person, every denominational employee, and every leader will become a literature evangelist. We must believe in the power of the print ministry magazines, tracts, books. If a leader does not believe in literature as a mighty evangelizing agency, he or she should either be converted or removed.

  20. 2 WAYS INVOLVEMENT OF LOCAL CHURCH MEMBER IN PUBLISHING MINISTRY Literature INREACH by Adventist Literature OUTREACH by Adventist

  21. LITERATURE IN REACH BY ADVENTIST Not all can go as missionaries to foreign lands, but all can be home missionaries in their families and neighborhoods (Testimonies, 9:30). The very best education young men can obtain is by entering the canvassing field and working from house to house (Manuscript 26, 1901).

  22. Literature in Every Hand and Home Watch for souls as they that must give an account. In your church and neighborhood missionary work, let your light shine forth in such clear, steady rays that no man can stand up in the judgment, and say, Why did you not tell me about this truth? Why did you not care for my soul? PM 371.1

  23. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST Publications are to be distributed like the leaves of autumn. [Church members were to sell or give away our literature (Manuscript 126, 1902), or provide by lending (Testimonies for the Church 9:35), as the truth was to be carried to the homes of neighbors and friends and the promise was given. Thus, we must prepare ourselves for most solemn duties. A world is to be saved.

  24. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST 2 WAYS IN LITERATURE OUTREACH 1. SHARING Every believer is called upon to scatter and broadcast tracts, leaflets, and books containing the message for this time (Review and Herald, November 5, 1914). 2. SELLING God calls for workers from every church among us to enter His service as canvasser evangelists [Literature Evangelists]. (Colporteur Ministry, p. 20).

  25. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST THROUGH SHARING Every Church Member to Have a Part- This is a line of service in which every church member can have some part. All cannot go out as canvassers for our larger books; but there is a field of usefulness open before many of our brethren and sisters in the placing of truth-filled publications in the homes of their neighbors and friend. PM 370.1s.

  26. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST THROUGH SHARING Sharing Books With Neighbors My brethren and sisters, visit those who live near you, and by sympathy and kindness seek to reach their hearts. Be sure to work in a way that will remove prejudice instead of creating it. PM 370.3

  27. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST THROUGH SELLING Educate, educate, educate young men and women to sell the books which the Lord by His Holy Spirit has stirred His servants to write. (Testimonies, 6:330). Let them engage in the good work of selling our books. Thus they will help others, and the experience gained will give them the assurance that they are God s helping hand (CM, p. 40)

  28. GODS ASSURANCE OF CANVASSING WORK The canvassing work, properly conducted, is missionary work of the highest order (Testimonies, 6:313). The Lord Jesus standing by the side of the canvasser is the chief worker CM 40(1/1902)

  29. LITERATURE OUTREACH BY ADVENTIST THROUGH SELLING PURPOSE OF SELLING: 1. Those who are fitting for the ministry can engage in no other occupation that will give them so large an experience as will the canvassing work (Testimonies, 6:334). ( Occupation for a Living) 2. Sustainability for the production of the printed materials by the Publishing Houses as the effective agency for the accomplishment of the last work of salvation;

  30. Health Reform Literature Will Win Souls Publications upon health reform will reach many who will not see or read anything upon important Bible subjects.... The truth must come to the people upon health reform. This is essential in order to arrest the attention in regard to Bible truth.... Many of those looked upon as hopelessly depraved will, if properly instructed in regard to their unhealthful practices, be arrested with the truth.... Go with your hands full of proper reading matter and your heart full of the love of Christ for their souls, reaching them where they are. Many are being drawn by the Lord Jesus Christ, who will respond. Manuscript 1, 1875. PM 371.4

  31. WHAT HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO REFUSE TO WORK FOR PUBLISHING MINISTRY And remember that those who know the truth for this time and yet confine their efforts to their own churches, refusing to work for their unconverted neighbors, will be called to account for unfulfilled. PM 370.3 duties.
