  1. PET READING PART 6

  2. The following are designed to scaffold the reading part 6 task. I plan to space out how often I use them. Slides 3- 10 are gapped sentences featuring grammar/phrasal verbs Slide 11 is mixed tenses gapped sentences. Slide 12 is a gapped text related to the topic of cinema Slide 13 is a gapped text related to the theme of education Slide 14 is a Cambridge reading part 6 with the missing words given but in a random order (For stronger groups remove this or add distractors). Slide 15 is another Cambridge reading part six but two options are given for students to discuss (also practice for part 5) Slide 16- students read the text with no gaps in a time limit. They are then shown the same text with gaps. Slides 18-19 are for students to make their own reading part 6 and identify what words they would remove.

  16. The Giralada is the most beautiful monument in Seville. It was built in 1171. The tower is part of Seville Cathedral which is the biggest of its kind in Europe. Many tourists come to Seville just to see this impressive building. However, sometimes the queues are so long that people have to wait for hours if they want to go inside. Every time I see the Giralda I m impressed by how beautiful it is. So if I were you, I d definitely try to visit it. You have 2 minutes to read the text You should also go to one of Seville s many restaurants where you can try some of the local specialities such as tapas. It depends on the weather of course but in my opinion all you need to do to enjoy Seville is walk round the city.

  18. Partner A. Read the text then remove words. You are going to create a reading part 6 for your partner. Amy Fudge is one of the best female basketball players in the world. She first took up basketball when she was 8 years old and she has been playing for her local team the Cambridge Cats since she was 12. Amy nearly gave up playing after she was injured before a match. Amy was warming up for an important game when she hurt her leg and had to stop. She says that nowadays she always has a good time when she s training with her teammates, who meet every Monday and Wednesday. She hopes to keep taking part in tournaments for as long as she can.

  19. Partner B. Read the text then remove words. You are going to create a reading part 6 for your partner. Harry Potter was written by JK Rowling in 1997. It is one of the most successful books that has ever been written in the English Language. The story takes place in a school called Hogwarts, where the main character, Harry Potter, makes friends with Hermione and Ron. The three students get on really well and learn lots of different spells. Many young people have grown up reading the Harry Potter books and love the stories because of the magic and the friendship. If you haven t read them, you should! They are fantastic.
