LDP overview Statutory requirement for every Council to have LDP & keep up-to-date Plan-led approach Replacement LDP is the mechanism to keep the Plan up-to-date In Wales, we will have Plans at national, regional & Local Authority level Evidence-based process concluding with independent examination Four main stages of consultation and engagement New approach- Much more user/child-friendly to maximise engagement

Material to be released at Rep LDP launch Invite feedback on: 1. Draft Vision & Objectives for Rep LDP 2. Call for Candidate Sites 3. Draft Scoping report of Integrated Sustainability Appraisal (ISA) All the above, in addition to work on evidence base, help inform the engagement on Strategic Options in the winter 2021/22
Draft Vision & Objectives Early opportunity to gain feedback on building blocks Vision- Views sought on best approach Objectives- The Plan has to strike the best balance 11 Draft Objectives in response to issues: Meeting future needs for homes, jobs & infrastructure (x3) A more sustainable/healthy city, respond to climate change, promote active travel, placemaking approach & support future well-being (x4) Support City Centre/Bay as part of post-Covid recovery (x2) Protect/improve green/blue spaces, biodiversity & historic/cultural assets (x2)
Call for Candidate Sites Process which seeks to identify potential sites to be in the Plan Submit by late Summer- Private landowners & Public bodies Information required & methodology for assessment being prepared Submission of formal template Assessed against criteria Helps inform preparation of Strategic Options Allocations shown in Preferred Strategy & Deposit Plan
Draft Scoping Report of ISA Statutory requirement to appraise potential impacts of LDP All in one approach All assessments in one bundle Sustainability Team plus external consultant for QA role This stage is seeking feedback on suggested scope of ISA ISA then formally approved at Council- Autumn 2021 Thereafter used to evidence potential impacts at the various stages of Plan preparation
Communication & Engagement Strategy Guiding framework for reaching wider audience Engagement with Cardiff Youth Council New Rep LDP website LDP branding- Bespoke, linked to One Planet/Active travel style User friendly online survey - future of the city Short videos, virtual exhibition Child/user-friendly approach Social media dimension
Online survey Scope set with key issues, draft vision & objectives Questions seek feedback which will inform Strategic Options stage Aim is to share the interesting choices & balances ahead o Pros & cons of different policy approaches o Ranking different potential solutions- Eg, Priorities for new infrastructure o Sliding scale preferences- Eg, What % modal split? o Likes/dislikes/ideas to improve local neighbourhoods & the city o Open questions- Eg, How can the Plan best tackle climate change?
