Progress
towards
the SDGs
Accelerating climate actions in line with the ambitions of the
Paris Agreement:
Promoting the use of renewable energy, regional power system connectivity
and low-emission mobility.
Assisting countries to accelerate an inclusive and just energy transition,
 such
as developing scenarios for a transition through National Roadmaps for SDG 7.
Supporting countries to build the necessary frameworks and partnerships for
critical energy transition minerals and for low-carbon transport
.
Transformative Actions through the work of ESCAP
5
Unlocking finance for sustainable development:
Promoting innovative financing,
such as the issuance of sovereign, green and social
bonds.
Working with national stakeholders to build national capacity and develop the necessary
frameworks for green and sustainable finance,

such as the Green Bond Framework in
Sri Lanka and Bhutan and guidelines for thematic bond issuance in Cambodia.
Macro-economic modelling for sustainable development
 is now helping countries,
 such
as Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Samoa and Sri Lanka, to develop
pathways for economic recovery from the pandemic with the 2030 Agenda at its core.
Transformative Actions through the work of ESCAP
6
Harnessing the benefits of digital transformation:
Supporting countries through the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative
to help bridge the digital divide across and within countries.
Supporting countries in leveraging public-private partnership investments
 for cost-
effective deployment of network infrastructure

and
integrating geospatial and
digital big data

for analysis and strategic foresight
Next year’s Commission session will focus on
leveraging digital transformation for
sustainable development
.
Transformative Actions through the work of ESCAP
7
Building the resilience of those furthest behind:
Supporting member States such as Cambodia, the Maldives and Mongolia
 in
implementing the Action Plan to Strengthen Regional Cooperation in
Social Protection
.
The Asian and Pacific Population Conference in November

will create an opportunity
to identify challenges and opportunities brought about by demographic shifts and how
to address them with people at the centre.
The adoption of the regional strategy to support the implementation of the
Executive
Action Plan on Early Warnings for All, 2023–2027
, in Asia and the Pacific is another
critical milestone.
Transformative Actions through the work of ESCAP
8
Accelerating sustainable development through multilateralism

9
The partnerships with
regional organizations
across regional
commissions, such as the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN), the African Union Commission, the League
of Arab States and the Community of Latin America and
Caribbean States, have brought about areas of
complementarity between the 2030 Agenda and regional
priorities
.
We can amplify
collective commitments and address
challenges that go beyond borders
, such as our partnership
with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat under the 2050
Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent to build climate
resilience and sustainable financing for development
