Time to reflect on your first year at high school.

Think about
2 things
that you have enjoyed at high school. This could
be things like being able to go down the street for lunch or doing
experiments in science. Make sure to explain why you have enjoyed
them.

Now think of
1 thing
you haven’t enjoyed about high school. Examples
could be having double periods of lessons or having to wear a tie
everyday. Again, remember to give a reason.

What is the letter to big me?

You’ve now had nearly a whole year in S1. Congratulations, there have
been many aspects of change for you all throughout the past few
months and you will have now settled into the routine of life at CCHS.

It’s time to reflect on what things have gone well and what areas of
your learning need work. Over the next couple of weeks we are going
to be setting some targets and creating a letter to “big me”. This letter
will be something that is totally private to you and addressed to
yourself. You will write this letter and seal It in an envelope. We will
store these for you and in S4 you will be given them back to open.

Task: Complete the S1 learning survey

Review the results

Take a look at your results – which subjects have high scores across all
areas and which ones have lower scores?
Pick your top 3 subjects – these will be the subjects where you score
highest across all areas.
Pick 2 subjects where there is work to be done – these will be the
subjects where your scores are lower across all areas.

Target setting – Short/medium/long term

What is a target?
Why do we create short, medium and long term
Create short, medium and long term targets for both your 3 top
subjects and the 2 that need work.

Main interests and hobbies

Lots of you will have interests and hobbies out with school that you want to be
successful in.
There may also be extra curricular groups that you are involved in that you wish
to develop.
In your “about me” PPT you stated what your main interests in life were, use this
to help you establish your list. Create short, medium and long term targets for
your 3 main interests.

Social

Many aspects of your life will revolve around the people closest to you.
Now think about who you have around you and what you hope for in the
future
Sentence starters are in bold

Things I hope for in the future…

house and live in a bigger

or friends who is important to you?

the plan you might want to pursue on leaving school.

My ambition is to become______________after leaving school.
I hope to leave school with _____________ qualifications
I plan to stay on/ leave school.

Positive message

Now to finish your letter to “big me” its your time to be creative,
what do you want to tell your older self?
This can be anything you like, try to be positive – this could be
positive words of encouragement; a special memory you would like
remind yourself of; or anything you have achieved so far that is
important to you either in or out of school.
