LOSS OF FIRST LOVE
MEMORY VERSE: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love . Revelation 2:4 TEXT: Revelation 2: 1-7
Friends of Jesus face many problems because of their love for Him. It is the devil that brings all these problems so that they will stop loving Jesus and go back to living a bad life. Jesus loves every boy and girl and He has gone to prepare a place for us in Heaven so that we will dwell with Him. But it is only those that continue to love, obey and follow Jesus till the end that will live with Him in Heaven. If you are not yet a friend of Jesus, you need to pray to Jesus to save you so that you can start your journey to Heaven.
There is a letter in our Bible passage from Jesus to the church in Ephesus. The letter was sent through Apostle John when he was on the Isle of Patmos. In the letter, Jesus praised the church for the right things they were doing. He also corrected them because they had left their first love. He advised them to recover their first love for Him so that they will not be punished. Jesus wants us to check our lives to see if we still love Him as we did before or not, so that we can repent and start loving Him again
First love for Christ is like when we newly became a friend of Jesus. It was when our faith in God, obedience to His word and love for Him and the Bible was very deep. At that time, the things of God were number 1 in our lives. Are you a friend of Jesus? Do you still love Him as you used to? The only way you can get to Heaven is for you to love Jesus and follow Him to the end. There is no eternal security for any child who stops loving Jesus.
If you are not sure of your salvation or have lost your first love for Jesus, you can call upon the Lord now. Confess and forsake your sins, ask for forgiveness and cleansing in the blood of Jesus. You must accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and determine to follow Him till the end. To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God (Rev 2:7b)

LESSON: Believers loss of their first love will attract God s judgement. THOUGHT: I will abide in Christ always, continue in obedience to His word and live a daily life of holiness to keep my first love for Christ till the end.
