WFPS Seasonality Sub-Committee Recommendations
Oak Wilt O Let s get to the root of it. O Recommend that COF O Request that DNR and WCFA require training for all foresters by Jan. 1, 2018. O Request that FISTA and WWOA offer training as well.
Rutting O Where did the skidder go? O Recommend that COF O Request research be done on the ecological effects of rutting.
Prescriptions O It s winter, why is it raining? O Recommend that COF O Request DNR review and revise manuals/guidelines to allow less date restrictive and more condition dependent prescriptions. O Follow this up with education.
NHI Restrictions O Does anyone really know how these work? O Recommend that COF O Request training be provided on NHI compliance and when restrictions are really necessary. O Request legislation requiring review and update of databases. O Request that it be a requirement that a DNR or other forestry professional be part of guideline development.
NHI Restrictions O Why so secretive? O Recommend that COF O Request legislation allowing access to NHI and Archaeological/Historical databases for Cooperating Foresters.
Weight Restrictions O Is the frost out? O Recommend that COF O Request science based guidelines be developed and dispersed state wide.
EAB O Is green good? O Recommend that COF O Request Waupaca, Waushara and Green Lake counties be quarantined. O Request review and modification of transport restrictions to allow pass through of non- quarantined counties. O Request a cost/benefit analysis be done on county by county approach vs. entire state.
