Officers attended a burglary at a Starbucks in Sidcup where three suspects stole money and personal property. Another attempted burglary was reported in Eaton Road, Sidcup, with a suspect description. Police conducted investigations, including door-to-door inquiries and a Street Briefing, but suspects remain unidentified.

  1. OCTOBER 2022 SIDCUP WARD

  2. STARBUCKS, SIDCUP HIGH STREET On WEDNESDAY 5th OCTOBER 2022 at approximately 1350 hrs Officers attended STARBUCKS, 77A SIDCUP HIGH STREET on an I graded call relating to a Burglary which had just occurred at the location. On scene officers spoke with the victim who works at the location. The victim informed officers that three (3) white males had come into the cafe, gone straight into the office and taken money from the safe, as well as personal possessions belonging to the staff. The store supervisor was who also present and saw the most of the incident showed officers into the office which had been left in Situ. In the office the safe door was open and it could be seen that it was empty, additionally the safe keys were in the middle of the floor and a few backpacks had been thrown into the corners of the room. Officers were able to access the store CCTV which showed as described three (3) IC1 males walk from SIDCUP HIGH STREET, straight into the cafe with no face covering or gloves on. The camera then changes into the office whereby it can be seen that two (2) of these original males go straight in and one (1) immediately grabs a rucksack and chucks it over his shoulder whilst the other begins searching for the safe key, less than approximately 20 seconds later they find the key and gain access to the safe. Both males can then be seen to begin to take the money and stuff it into their waistband. The office door is then seen being opened which is later confirmed to be supervisor. The males can then be seen to quickly head out of the office and exit the cafe, the third male follows them shortly after. It was later confirmed that the third male had sat down in the Cafe and acted as the look out. The supervisor had become suspicious of the males due to them going straight in the direction of the office/toilets whilst usually customers would come up to the counter and additionally, when they entered they were looking in all directions. This is when she has then gone to check the office and caught the two (2) males in the act. It was later established that the personal property that had also been stolen was a Grey purse containing 4 in cash and a Barclays debit card. It was also established that a Black backpack containing a Beige purse containing loose change, a Santander debit card and a Monzo debit card, as well as a set of house keys had also been stolen which belonged to another store worker. Finally, it was also worked out that approximately 500 in cash had been taken from the safe. Images of the suspects have been circulated within the Met but no identification has been made to date.

  3. EATON ROAD, SIDCUP On Thursday 20tha police unit attended a property on Eaton Road, Sidcup, DA14 to reports of an attempted burglary. Victim answered the door and spoke with officers. She stated that approx. 01:00hrs on that morning she was sleeping in the front room of her bungalow and had been awoken by a noise in the driveway. The victim stated that she then looked out the window and shone a flashlight out to the driveway, but didn t see anything. That morning one of victims neighbours had alerted her to the fact that someone was trying door handles in the street that evening and had tried their front door. The victim then checked her front door and noticed there were marks, as if someone was trying to pry open the door with some kind of tool. Multiple properties had CCTV, two of these addresses had caught the suspect on camera, however suspects face was not visible in any footage. Description for the suspect ascertained from the footage; IC1 male, Dark puffer jacket with white zips, black trousers, white trainers with black sole. PCSO Steve had conducted thorough door to door enquiries with negative result. 50 letters were also posted to advertise a Street Briefing on 29thOctober where Steve spoke to local residents highlighting issues locally and offering advice. This was very well attended and welcomed by local residents.

  4. MIDDLETON AVENUE SIDCUP On Saturday 29thOctober officers attended venue to reports of a residential burglary. When officers arrived on scene the residents were on scene after being out for the afternoon/evening. The victim explained they had been out in London meeting friends, they left the address at approximately 1400 hours, and returned home at approximately 2200 hours. When returning home they noticed the shoes by the door had moved and there was some damage to the lino flooring in the kitchen by the back door leading to the connecting garage door. Initially he victim thought it this may have been caused by the family dog, however when going upstairs they noticed that all the clothes within the closet in the master bedroom had been removed and chucked every where. In addition to this 2 boxes of jewellery containing 2 pairs of silver earrings were missing. Upon discovering this the victim called police to report the burglary. When officers spoke to the victim he was sure the property was left secure and all the doors and windows were locked before they left the address. Victim stated they only have 3 keys for the front door, one belonging to him, the other belonging to his wife and another in the combination key safe on the outside of the door. Both the victim and his wife were still in possession of their keys and the key within the key safe was still present and the box was secure etc. The only individual who knows the key safe combination is the family dog walker who has been providing the family with this service for years and the family trust completely. The victim explained he didn t think anything else was missing only two pairs of his wife earring which were hidden within boxes in the closet. These earring were silver and worth approximately 500 combined. In addition to this incident today, the victim also explained that he was out with his family yesterday on 28th October in the afternoon between the hours of 1200 and 2100 hours. When they returned home all of the items normally surrounding the bath (bottles etc) had fallen within the bath along the side below the bathroom window. Victim also explained there was some dirt in the bath however, he didn t think much of this as nothing else within the house was out of place and the bathroom window was shut as it had been when he left. Victim explained the bathroom window lock is broken and it cant be secured properly and is sometimes loose. Due to the incident today victim now believes that someone may have also gained entry to his house yesterday, which caused these irregularities. Due to this further information officers conducted an extensive search of the house as victim was worried a suspect could potentially still be hiding within the property as he thought her heard someone walking along the roof in the morning of 29th. This search showed the address was secure etc.

  5. DAVENPORT ROAD, SIDCUP, DA14 DAVENPORT ROAD, SIDCUP, DA14 On Monday 10thOctober between 00:01hrs- 16:26hrs a shed was broken into and a Voodoo off roader was stolen. RIVERSIDE ROAD, SIDCUP, DA14 A bicycle was stolen from a shed between Thurs 20th Monday 24thOctober.

  6. VEHICLE CRIME FOR OCTOBER 2022 Crim Dam Rear windows smashed on a Dacia Sandero in Kimberley Drive. Occurred between 2230-2330hrs on Monday 10thOct. Crim Dam Rear window smashed on a C-Max in Pollard Walk. Occurred between Monday 10th Tuesday 11thOctober. Crim Dam Rear window smashed on a vehicle on Tuesday 11thOctober from 8am Crim Dam Van was scratched after suspect is believed to have pushed a trolley causing the damage. Occurred on Wednesday 12thOctober Theft From Catalytic Converter stolen from a very old VW Golf in Cambourne Road on Thursday 13thOctober. Three suspects were challenged by the victim however, suspects were very aggressive and threatening. Vehicle was eventually scrapped by the victim. Theft From Catalytic Converter stolen from a Honda CRV on Tuesday 18thOctober. Three suspects could be seen on cctv however all had hoods or facial covering. No suspect vehicle seen. Crim Dam Youths seen slashing tyres to victims vehicle in Jubilee Way. Occurred on Sunday 23rdOctober between 2030hrs-2038hrs. Theft From Catatlytic Converter stolen from a Lexus on Thursday 24thOctober between 0800-1700hrs Theft From Cigarettes stolen from a van outside Bookers in EdgingtonWay. Occurred on Saturday 29thOctober between 0935hrs-0940hrs. Theft From Number plates stolen from a vehicle in Wren Road on Saturday 29thOctober.

  7. OTHER NEWS Following the incidents when the ward (High Street) had multiple distraction thefts earlier this year which led to a week long operation, Dan successfully arrested one suspect for going equipped at the time. Since then the suspect has been charged with 3 x theft, going equipped, handling stolen goods, and points and blades.

  8. Malcolm Mattin Dan also manage to arrest Malcolm Mattin who use to be one of our regulars for causing ASB in the High Street. On the 29thOctober Malcolm was seen breaching his court order which clearly banned him from attending Sidcup High Street until November 2023. Malcolm was in breach of his injunction and was swiftly arrested by PC Dan and taken to custody.
