  4. What promises were made between the colonies during the conference They wanted to protect French culture and wanted provincial government to have many powers and to be strong. http://www.cbc.ca/history/EPCONTENTSE1EP8CH4P A3LE.html

  5. What was the Outcome of the Conference Produced 72 resolutions and a blueprint for Canada. Some of the important resolutions include: - A strong central government would handle common affairs, notably economic development and defence. - Provinces would have limited powers to handle local affairs, and social and cultural issues. - A federal parliament would be composed of a lower house called House of Commons and an upper house known as senate. - Members of House of Commons would be elected according to notion of representation by population. - Members of senate would be appointed. Canada east and west and Atlantic Canada would each be considered a region. Each region had 24 members, this would provide protection for small Atlantic colonies which would each have very few elected members in House of Commons.

  6. Colonies against Confederation Colonies for Confederation Province of Canada Newfoundland New Brunswick Newfoundland thought they had little in common with the people of province of Canada. They were afraid of American invasion and needed protection, economic benefits like more money for construction and more jobs. Prince Edward Island. Since PEI only had 5 representatives in the House of Commons they would have little power or influence. Nova Scotia Since confederation was tied to railway building Nova Scotia was interested because they wanted to see Halifax linked by railway.
