PROJECT IDEATION & BRAINSTORMING ACTIVITES
WHAT TO EXPECT: 1. HOW MIGHT WE? PURPOSE INSTRUCTONS ACTIVITY RULES ACITIVY 2. S.C.A.M.P.E.R. PURPOSE INSTRUCTIONS ACTIVITY
PURPOSE Tool to develop ideation sessions with your team Network with other teams to gain new perspectives Discover your passions through brainstormed ideas Potentially create a new project idea to bring back to the team
INSTRUCTIONS Use this tool during ideation sessions with your teams. It is a great way to get your team to start brainstorming or change their perspective in order to create a new idea. The best projects are the one s your team genuinely feels passionate about and this tool can help to draw ideas from passion. Give it a shot and see what happens! Time: 45 minutes- 1 hour Materials: Zoom/google hangout etc., pens, paper, online collaboration tool (Mural or Miro) How to Play: Bring your team together on Zoom/google hangout etc. Set the stage, let everyone know the purpose of today s session. Today you are getting together to discover what you are passionate about and see how you can incorporate that into a future project. Use slideshow to run through activity with your team :) Set some ground rules. No ideas are bad ideas, write down any ideas that come to mind, quantity over quality and let your mind race. Try your hardest to stay focused on the topic, brainstorming is mentally draining but do your best to stay on task. Have everyone grab some paper or a pen to write down ideas, or you can start writing directly on the online collaboration tool (Mural or Miro). Sometimes ideas flow easier using pen and paper. Divide up the SDGS (LINK) amongst your team, feel free to pick just a few SDGs that resonate most with your team rather than all of them. This is a great time to break your team up into smaller groups, potentially leverage the breakout room feature on Zoom. Have your team members create How Might We statements for each SDG. Check out this resource to learn all about How Might We statements. It is your goal to come up with as many ideas as possible for each How Might We statement. Remember quantity over quality, write down ANYTHING that comes to mind. No idea is too big or too small. Don t worry about the feasibility or implementation of the ideas that come to mind If your team is using pen and paper now is a good time to transfer ideas to your online collaboration tool. Spend a few minutes putting ideas up on the boards and organizing them. Have everyone put a dot or a star on the ideas they like the best (this is called dot voting or dotmocracy). The ideas with the most votes are the ones you should take away and try to turn into a project.
