THE SCHOOL THE SCHOOL Private Secondary School "Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi" is the only private school in Bulgaria with mandatory intensive study of Chinese language as foreign, starting from pre-school group (4-5 and 5-6 years old children) and first grade with 10 classes per week and from 8th grade with scheduled 18 classes a week. Our school has been licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria and can implement education of students in all grades from 1st to 12th grade, including two pre-school groups. THE SCHOOL THE SCHOOL PSS "Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi" launched its first school year in September 2015 with only 4 children in pre-school preparatory group. Correspondingly, in just 5 years the number of students increased to 120 children, which for the size of our country s population is a very big growth and since September 2021 we expect to start the upcoming school year with more than 150 children, from the pre-school group to the 9th grade. Moreover, this rapid increase of our students proves the high need for quality and profound learning of Chinese language and culture in Bulgaria. OUR TEAM OUR TEAM The establishment of the school is the result of three year preliminary studies performed by the foundation "Zachary Stoyanov". In addition, all our teachers are carefully selected according to high criteria. Bulgarian teachers of Chinese language hold Master s degree and have specialized teaching Chinese language as foreign in China. They combine professionalism with established experience both in linguistic teaching and personal commitment. The contract between the school and the University outlines the parameters of diverse cooperation in the field of teachers' methodology, teaching and qualifications. The school has also signed a contract for collaboration with University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACG), Sofia, as well as with Veliko Tarnovo University St. "Kiril and Methodius", Veliko Tarnovo. PARTNERS PARTNERS Equally important, our partners in the educational process related to the Chinese language and culture are "Institute Confucius" in Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo. We work together in terms of teaching methodology, textbooks, volunteer teachers from China, by organizing together various cultural events, delegations and programs, which makes the learning of Chinese language and culture not only an educational process, but it also creates a cultural exchange of ideas and promotes the creation of international friendships among students and teachers. Likewise, our school has a wonderful relationship with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria, together we have organized a number of cultural events related to the distribution of the Chinese language and culture in Bulgaria. WHY WE CHOOSE CHINESE TO BE TAUGHT IN OUR SCHOOL WHY WE CHOOSE CHINESE TO BE TAUGHT IN OUR SCHOOL Notably, our studies have shown that the only foreign language that is not sufficiently well represented in Bulgarian schools, but with practical application in future career options, is Chinese. Until 2015, intensive learning of Chinese was offered only for students after 7th grade at a high school stage and with very few classes - 1-2 a week in smaller classes, and it was optional. In this case, the results would not be satisfactory. To put it in another way, we strongly believe that Chinese language can be successfully learned, provided that students begin to study it intensively, compulsorily and thoroughly from the earliest age. Besides, our team of teachers and parents believe that one of the fastest growing global economies is precisely the Chinese, which makes the Chinese language one of the most attractive languages. Also, the opportunities and prospects that open up in front of every person speaking Chinese language are constantly growing worldwide. Therefore, responding adequately to market demand and societal needs, our school has undertaken a mission to create a good team and coordinate with universities and institutes in order to provide the best opportunity to learn Chinese in Bulgaria - a goal that not only we strive to achieve, but it is a personal mission of each member of the team of our school. Furthermore, an integral part of learning the language in our school is the study of Chinese culture. Our students spent two extremely exciting and fruitful days with 29 children from Beijing - The best performers, selected among hundreds of thousands of candidates. During the cultural exchange, the children exchanged knowledge, practiced their skills for speaking in Chinese and English languages, and shared talents, cultural customs. They made Bulgarian martenitsa, prepared together traditional Bulgarian yoghurt, visited the children's Science Center, and what s more - became friends!
