  3. Director Calls Tentative dates Feb 13 Mar 5 March 26 April 16 Purpose Bring to light some current issue that have shown to be worthy of discussion. The intent is not to use as a debate forum but strictly educational.

  4. Forum Keep sending the questions Realize some not answered or took a period of time to answer Good tool for consistency

  7. Non rule change year? 2019 AND 2020 RULES Posted on NCAA.com PDF VERSION ONLY. NOT IN PRINT. UPDATED NOVEMBER 5, 2019.

  8. Review Major Rules Changes (Update) Rule Description Page(s) 1-4 Establishes the visible goal mouth with a new line on the field ...... 11 1-21-a Requirements for goalkeepers and field players to have chest protection that meets the NOCSAE commotiocordis protective device standard.............................................................................17 1-25 By the 2021 season, institutions must have two shot clocks that can be set/reset to two different times. ............................... 19 4-21 Modifies the penalties for landing in the defined goal mouth ....... 46 7-14 Codifies the use of video replay during NCAA Championships ....... 83

  9. Review Point of Emphasis Team Conduct/Decorum Pregame and Postgame What do we do if the buffer zone is not observed? Officials will warn players and coaches, still not adhered to: conduct foul, will be escalated to unsportsmanlike if continues. Probably both teams at this point.

  10. Review Faceoff Good News!!!!!!! fewer and fewer complaints Why? We are more consistent Ball in middle of stick sticks off line head out of neutral zone varying whistle from start to finish (quicker)

  11. Review Faceoff The overriding principle is for both players to play the ball. Clamping is allowed on the initial move only; anything more is withholding the ball from play. The use of the helmet during the faceoff is a serious concern. The game officials will be asked to determine any potential violations when helmet to helmet contact occurs.

  12. Review Communication Keys to better communication Realize that every call we make 50% are going to disagree. Prepare yourself to be criticized Did we deserve some criticism? Establish is it a comment vs question Stay calm Maintain an even voice Be polite and professional (even if they aren t) Be concise and brief (don t elaborate)

  13. Communication Keys to better communication Can you have this conversation with your back to coach. Turning face to face may make it worse. You can still ref the game also. Avoid sarcasm only a few can pull this off and most of us are not in the few even though you think you are Ask yourself is this just a misunderstanding explanation Have a short memory isn t that what we ask from a coach

  14. Establish communication protocol with head coach Give them time when appropriate Very to no assistant s negative input Will answer questions You talk to me I will talk to you. Ask don t yell Things get bad they need to understand where line is If they cross it deal with it.

  15. Conduct - coaches, players, and fans If you have an ejection or an issue with security you are to call, text or email your RA or Assignor within two hours of the game end. These situations need to be worked on immediately due to playing schedules. We have seen some game reports that have not been good when it comes to security issues The RAs or Assignors have been dealing with these in a positive way with the schools or conferences We have the backing of the conferences

  16. Mechanics Some making up their own mechanics Proper process Send email to Tom Sutton Will be reviewed Committee will discuss Decision will be made

  17. Mechanics -reminders The official is to wind arm on restarts No pump We are no longer using the fingers to signal number for fouls at bench Single side starts all FO violations Partner hold players

  18. Mechanic - 60 on shot clock What changed Pointing of arm Point when the clock reaching 60 seconds. Verbalizing Principle same as shot clock reset but will use the word under

  19. Mechanics One reset all reset. (Verbalizing helps) Play on signal then reset shot clock signal Faceoff possession call and then reset Typically a second or two late on reset is better than early

  20. Resets - shot clock A Shot that: (not all) Hits goalie that is initiated above the goal line extended (whether goalie is on or out of crease) Restart of play after a stoppage to administer a time serving foul Possession change On a non-serving technical/play-on Defensive end: offensive half at 60 or less Offensive end: (full use of field until 60) Reset to 80 with 20 to clear. Ball must be in Reset to 80/Over and Back is in play at 60
