The New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application allows NJ Dreamers enrolled in
eligible New Jersey colleges and universities to apply for state financial aid.
 
Who should complete this application?
 
Complete this application if you are 
not
 a United States citizen or eligible noncitizen and
meet all of the following criteria;
Attended a New Jersey high school for at least three (3) years
Graduated from a New Jersey high school 
or
 received the equivalent of a high school
diploma in New Jersey
Registered for 
Selective Service
 (male students only)
Are able to file an affidavit stating that you have filed an application to legalize your
immigration status 
or
 will file an application as soon as you are eligible to do so

Leaving blank fields
2.
Listing an incorrect Social Security Number or driver's license number
3.
Failing to use your legal name
4.
Entering the wrong address
5.
Entering the wrong federal income tax paid amount
6.
Listing Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) as equal to total income from working
7.
Incorrectly filing income taxes as head of household
8.
Listing marital status incorrectly
9.
Listing parent marital status incorrectly
10.
Failure to list both parents if they live together
11.
Failure to report unborn children
12.
Failing to count yourself as a student
13.
Failing to register with Selective Service
14.
Forgetting to list the college
15.
Forgetting to sign and date
 
NJ Debt Free
promise grant
 
 
New Jersey residents who are admitted to NJCU from high school
and attend full-time, with a family household income of $65,000 or
less, will be offered a scholarship in lieu of having to take out a loan
(after federal and state financial aid is awarded).
 
To apply, students must be admitted to NJCU and submit the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by 
March 1
. Students
remain qualified for the program each year, if they submit a FAFSA,
are in good academic standing, are full-time each semester.
