NEALE WADE ACADEMY YEAR 6 TRANSITION BOOKLET 2020
WELCOME Welcome to Neale Wade Academy! We understand that things are rather strange at the moment, so we have put together some information to help you as you think about Transition to Secondary school. If you have any questions which aren t answered here, or anything you are worried about, you can contact Miss Copeland at the Academy directly or you can ask your parent/carer or Year 6 teacher to help with that. You can email Miss Copeland using hcopeland@neale-wade.org
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ABOUT MY TRANSITION? Until we know what the Government plans are for us to safely open schools again to students, we will keep in touch using twitter and email. The Academy website has lots of information about the school. Once we are able to make further plans for transition we will be in touch again. Of course, we are still very excited about welcoming you to Neale Wade in September.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN PLACES I NEED TO KNOW? The Atrium The Atrium is a large open space where people gather before school and wait for friends at the end of the day The main entrance this is the front entrance to the school, you come in through here every morning. Most people arrive around 8.30 ready to go to form at 8.50. Medical room The medical room is to the left, off the Atrium. Mrs Dearlove runs the medical room. If you take regular medication or feel ill or hurt yourself during the school day this is where you go. Mrs Dearlove will be happy to talk with your parent/carer about any medication you use.
WHAT ABOUT FOOD?! We know, food is a top priority for lots of you, and many of you will have worries about food too.. You have several options at Neale Wade. You can bring your own packed lunch from home, you can buy cold food and hot food in the dining hall. There is a huge choice, and the ladies in the kitchen make everything from scratch. You don t bring money to Neale Wade, we use a system called parent pay (some of you will already use that in your primary school). Your account is topped up at home, so you never need to bring cash to school. If you receive a Free School Meal, this will be sorted out for you and you just go through the Dining Hall in the same way as every one else. If you have allergies, intolerances to certain foods the ladies will happily do their best to help for example they cook gluten free pasta especially for someone who cannot eat gluten. The Dining Hall is open before school for breakfast, for morning break and at lunch time.
WHO WILL BE THERE TO HELP ME? Each Year group has a Progress Leader, and a Pastoral Assistant. Mr Mr Tuffin Tuffin will be Progress Leader for Year 7 and Mrs Ludlow Assistant.
