  3. Change this to a question? Add one of the following. This will turn your topic into a question: What Where When Why How

  4. Defining your research question Question should not be a quick answer or fact. What is Bipolar disorder (This is a definition) Question should not be so open ended as to not have an answer. What or when was the first terrorist act? (One can never find a true answer).

  5. Defining a research topic Note if your topic is too broad: Why do we have wars? (Why are the major conflicts in the 20thcentury related to land resources?) Note if your topic is too narrow: Why is it difficult for guys in Santa Ana to find a job? Let the material guide you

  6. Defining your research question Identify concepts Identify keywords Identify synonyms Identify related terms or words
