The Navajo Foster Grandparent Program, part of AmeriCorps Seniors, offers valuable benefits for seniors, including meaningful activities, volunteering opportunities, and financial support. Participants receive a stipend, mileage reimbursement, and insurance coverage. The program allows elders to share their culture and language while fostering intergenerational connections. Eligibility guidelines include being 55 years or older, passing a background check, and meeting income requirements. Schools and sponsors play vital roles in facilitating the program, providing training, recognition, and support.
