  2. Ragging is a serious offence and is totally prohibited in Saraswati Medical College Unnao. Anyone found guilty of ragging or abetting ragging actively or passively, or being a part of conspiracy is liable to be punished in accordance with regulations

  3. Definition of Ragging Ragging shall mean any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension there of in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

  4. Actions that may constitute Ragging 1. Any conduct by student / students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness; 2. Indulging in undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear in fresher; 3. Asking to do any act which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of fresher ;

  5. 4. Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity ; 5. Exploiting the services of a fresher for completing the academic tasks assigned: 6. Financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden 7. Physical abuse such as, sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene acts, gestures, causing bodily harm ; 8. Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, which would also include deriving perverted pleasure or sadistic thrill from participating in the discomfiture to fresher; actively or passively

Any act of physical or mental abuse targeted at fresher on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender , sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background; 10. Any act that undermines human dignity and respect through humiliation; 11. Any act that affects the mental health and self- confidence of a fresher with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, or superiority over any fresher.

  7. Punishment 1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges; 2.Withholding or withdrawing scholarship or fellowship and other benefits; 3.Debarring from appearing in any test or examination or other evaluation process; 4. Withholding results; 5.Debarring from attending conferences, and other academic programmes; 6.Suspension or expulsion from the hostel;

  8. 7.Debarring from representing the institution in any Regional, National or turnament, youth festival, etc. ; 8. Imposition of fine ranging from Rs.25000 to 1 lakh. 9. Cancellation of admission; 10.Rustication from the medical college or institution for a period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters; 11.Expulsion from the medical colleges or institutions and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
