  3. Identified below are the key objectives from the QAA in relation to the MSc Public Sociology programme: The advanced study of social problems. The development of communication skills at a professional level to inform the public debate on social problems. The development of the ability to apply sociological knowledge to possible solutions of complex issues. The development and enhancement of a range of general transferable skills and attributes and lifelong learning skills.

  4. The MSc Public Sociology is marked by the commitment to promote social change, equipping students to use media to raise awareness of social problem. This includes an intelligent and ethical use of digital media Skills are embedded in each module for the transformation of sociological knowledge (either generated through innovative research or collated from existing research) into an asset in the pursue of high level postgraduate employment, applied digital capabilities and Social Impact.

  5. Theory and Practice of Public Sociology, Research Methods for Public Sociology Communication Studies for Social Impact provide the skills to disseminate sociological knowledge to lead the public debate and skills to independently produce sociological knowledge through innovative and ethically informed research. The ecology of Contemporary Societies: Science, Technology, Environment , Decision making, Leadership and Management in Complex Organisations , Multidimensional Inequalities and Spaces of Public Engagement offer students the possibility to apply sociological knowledge to further case studies and to reflect on the prospective of different stakeholders.

  6. A qualifying characteristic of the MSc Public Sociology is the developing partnership with a large network of 52 Northamptonshire not-for-profit organisations The partnership will secure a wealth of opportunities for students to actively participate in the work of voluntary, community and social enterprises, as well as opportunities for high-impact research
