EXPECTATIONS Improve speaking through: analyzing common faults and habits, learning how to prepare, and practice! Practice! Practice! Improve ability to debate through: the process of preparation and understanding the difference between debating and arguing.
CURRENTLY WERE WORKING ON. Getting comfortable speaking in front of the class by working with others First day introductions Understanding the vocabulary and how the rubrics are created Personal experience speech
FUTURE ASSIGNMENTS Independent speeches: Being a good audience member Good speeches vs. poor speeches How to write a moving speech Class discussions (Socratic Seminar, Fish Bowl, and Touchstone) Team debates
HOW WILL YOUR CHILD SUCCEED? Being supportive when an audience member Reviewing the rubric before a performance Reciting a speech in front of the mirror, friend, or family member to address quirks that you may not be aware of Participate in all class assignments
DEBATE TEAM Meetings are every Wednesday from 3-5pm We compete against Maple Point and Poquessing
