  1. Write a Knock-Knock Joke

  2. Knock Knock jokes have been popular for years. Its easier to write one than you might think! Below are two examples of Knock Knock jokes. A B Knock Knock Who s there? Robin Robin who? Robin you hand over the cash! Knock Knock Who s there? Boo Boo who? Aww, don t cry! Example A uses a person s name to create the first line of a sentence: Robin sounds like Robbing, so the joke works because of the sound. Example B uses the who answer to create the joke: boo-hoo is how we might write someone crying.

  3. Punchlines A punchline is the final phrase of a joke or story which delivers the humour. Without its punchline, a joke isn t usually funny. On the next slide is a collection of Knock-Knock jokes that are missing their punchlines. Can you come up with a punchline for each one? Top Tip: sometimes the humour comes from the sound of the word, not the way it s written. Say the jokes out loud so that you can hear them. This might help with working out a punchline!

  4. Knock Knock Who s there? Doris (sounds like door is ) Doris who? Knock Knock Who s there? Cow says Cow says who? Knock Knock Who s there? Dewey (sounds like do we ) Dewey who? Knock Knock Who s there? Cash Cash who (sounds like cashew which is a type of nut) Knock Knock Who s there? Mikey (sounds like my key ) Mikey who? Knock Knock Who s there? Tank Tank who?
