  1. Garbage In Garbage Out Class 6th: Science (Chapter-16)

  2. Introduction

  3. How do we deal with Garbage

  4. Components of Garbage Garbage at the landfill is separated as Useful Component Non-useful Component Part of the garbage that cannot be re-used is called as Non- useful component. It is then separated and spread over the landfill and covered with a layer of soil Part of the garbage that can be re-used is called as Useful component. It is then treated by different processes to make it non-toxic

  5. Useful Garbage includes

  6. Types of Garbage There are two types of Garbage Non-Biodegradable (Non- useful) Biodegradable (Useful) Type of waste, typically originating from plant or animals, which can be decomposed by other living organisms/ method. Type of waste that cannot be decomposed by any method

  7. Treatment of Useful Component of Garbage: Composting (CLICK)

  8. Why we have different Dustbins? (CLICK)

  9. Vermicomposting

  10. Red-Worms and their role in Vermicomposting

  11. Recycling We can recycle waste paper and re-use it for many purposes. Paper suitable for recycling is called as Scrap paper

  12. Plastic: Boon or Curse !! (CLICK) Some kind of plastics an be recycled, not all of them Problems arise when we use plastics excessively and are ignorant about ways of disposing them All kinds of plastics release toxic gases upon heating or burning These gases may cause many health problems, including cancer, in humans Plastic bags cannot be recycled Stray animals swallow these plastic bags and fall sick

  13. Save Environment: Reduce, Recycle & Re-use (3 R s) Reduce Reduce unnecessary usage of natural resources Recycle Recycle and use the natural resources in different forms Waste segregation is vital for recycling Re-use Use the same resource/s again and again (to the extent possible)
