  1. Objective: Maintain client dignity

  2. What is dignity? Every individual is worthy of honour and respect. All people have the right to be treated with dignity. Dignity is not something that needs to be earned. Learners do not have to behave a certain way to be treated with dignity.

  3. How do you maintain client dignity? Showing respect at all times -compassion and patience. Maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Communicating effectively and professionally. Offer your client choices and allow them to be an active part of treatment development.

  4. Other things to consider: Do not talk down to your clients. Make sure your personal views do not obscure the provision of quality treatment. Show empathy. Communicate with stakeholders as you have been directed. Maintaining professional boundaries. Ensure you have your client s consent to do specific practices with them.
