Recapping James 1/ The purpose of trials James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Recapping James 4/ The power of words James 3:5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
Recapping James 5/ Power through humility James 4:6But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.
James 1/ The believers response to being persecuted for their faith James 5:7Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord s coming is near. 9Don t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
James 1/ The believers response to being persecuted for their faith James 5:10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
James Oaths 12Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple Yes or No. Otherwise you will be condemned.
