Latest Developments in Particle Physics Research

Plan of undulator scheme R&D (Gudi) Pulsed solenoid ( Carmen) Plasma lens being investigated by Formela, Hamann, Loisch downscaled prototype (factor 5) designed and produced first measurement start this month further grant application for full prototype German BMBF grant application only every 3 years deadline was July 1st, 2023 first news probably end of the year collaborative effort ..together with other Universities+labs 2023/05/02 WG2 K.Yokoya 2

Revive of rotating wheel activities Meeting with Sabine Riemann, Peter Sievers, Ian Bailey, Jeff Gronberg, Phil Burrows, Andrew Lankford, Carmen+Gregor, Steinar Stapnes and Steffen Doebert maybe some ITN money for the wheel 2 Possibilities: a) get back old wheel, or b) construct new prototype also needed for HALHF e+ source .. Plan for Pulsed Solenoid Funding available for prototype design Mechanical design department at DESY signaled available manpower for design Goal of development is a prototype solenoid to demonstrate ---- field strength & distribution, field stability, mechanical stability, thermal stability.
