HIS CRUCIFIXION
How do you view the Lord’s Supper, the
crucifixion, and the cross?
THINK ABOUT THIS…
Discuss
What are some familiar things
we do that we don’t think
about, we just do them?
1. THE LORD’S SUPPER IS A
TIME TO LOOK
BACK
 AND A
TIME TO LOOK
FORWARD
.
LUKE 22:18-20
18
For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the
vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19
 And he took bread,
gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is my
body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
20
In the same way he also took the cup after supper and
said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is
poured out for you.
LUKE 22:7-8
“Then the Day of Unleavened Bread came when
the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Jesus sent Peter
and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover
meal for us, so we can eat it.”

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:
On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took
bread,

The blood of the lamb was applied to the doorposts and the lintel of the house to cover the firstborn against death. Matzah the unleavened bread signified that the Israelites didn t have time to wait for the yeast in the bread to rise because they had to be ready to move quickly at God s command. Saltwater represented the tears shed in Egypt during the time of slavery and captivity.
