  2. Our Vision Manitoba s Kindergarten learning program offers our youngest students a joyful introduction to school through intentional play-based and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that respect children as capable, motivated, and confident learners and that foster children s health across all developmental domains. (A Time for Learning, a Time for Joy: A Resource for Kindergarten Teachers, 2015)

  3. Literacy and Numeracy As children engage in play, they have the perfect context within which to explore, discover, and communicate ideas. Children build literacy skills by exploring print and hearing language in a variety of contexts. Adapted from A Time for Learning, a Time for Joy: A Resource for Kindergarten Teachers, 2015.

  4. Literacy and Numeracy Kindergarten students explore mathematical concepts and build understanding through hands-on, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences. Language development is essential to learning, and plays a crucial role in later development of successful readers. To help your child develop language, numeracy and literacy skills: TALK, READ, SING, and PLAY every day! Practice reading and writing their name.
